Flogas Enterprise has achieved a 100% renewable electricity rating for all electricity supplied to its customers, according to the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU).

The energy regulator has just published its Fuel Mix Disclosure Report for 2018. This report presents reliable, accurate and independently verified information from the energy regulator regarding the sources of electricity.

For the fifth year, Flogas Enterprise continues to supply its customers with electricity from 100% renewable sources. Flogas Enterprise proudly became the first ever energy supplier in Ireland to achieve a 100% renewable electricity rating.

“The Fuel Mix Disclosure Report for 2018 is important as it shows consumers where the electricity, they purchase from their supplier, is coming from for 2018,” said Liam Faulkner, CEO of Flogas Enterprise .

“This disclosure enables consumers to distinguish between suppliers based on the source of their electricity and the associated carbon emissions. In 2018, all of the electricity we supplied to our customers was from renewable energy sources. The report also shows Flogas Enterprise had zero CO2 emissions in 2018. By choosing Flogas Enterprise as your energy provider, you are playing a vital role in ensuring we live in a cleaner, greener and healthier environment,” he added.

Energy Trends

The Fuel Mix Disclosure Report 2018 shows there has been an increase in the use of renewable fuel sources to meet electricity demand, from circa 44.5% in 2017 to 49% 2018. (see graph below)

The use of fossil fuels as a fuel source for electricity suppliers to meet demand has decreased by over a third during the past decade, from 89% in 2008 to 51% in 2018. Correspondingly, the overall share of renewable fuel sources has more than quadrupled during the past decade, from 11% in 2008 to 49% in 2018.

“It’s great to see more and more Irish businesses are seeking access to renewable energy sources to reduce their carbon footprint and limit the environmental impact of their activities, said Ross McConnell, Head of Renewables at Flogas Enterprise .

We hope that this trend continues and drives increased investment in renewable sources of electricity in Ireland.
