Cemex
The Issue
Cemex Ireland needed the capability to produce customised reports to analyse, compare and monitor their 30 individual centres of operation, with the ultimate aim of reducing costs across all sites. This would require a deep understanding of the electricity market, gained from an energy supplier who would appreciate Cemex’s challenges and needs, and could offer a complete service beyond the supply of energy itself, including training and support.
Vayu’s Solution
Vayu’s core review of the Cemex sites identified savings of €25,000 on five key sites, and we were also able to flag immediate savings of €15,000 on one site by optimising Cemex’s MIC or Maximum Import Capacity.
Solution features:
• Individualised reports for all sites, to monitor monthly energy spend
• Site report league table, allowing comparative analysis and reduced spend
• Ongoing active management of Cemex sites de-energisation, across network, to prevent unwanted costs.
Results
Cemex has made significant savings on several sites, thanks to a greater understanding of the electricity market, and using this knowledge to implement a procurement strategy.
The Future
Vayu’s work of providing innovative, tailored products and services around Cemex’s specific needs is an ongoing cost-reducing process. Upcoming plans also include an introduction to Active Energy Management tools, allowing Cemex to monitor energy use as it happens.
Vayu’s Ciaran Gahan says that
“We’ve built a solid relationship with Cemex, and we plan
to build upon this in the coming years by doing what we do best: creating innovative ways to help our customers manage their energy spend.”
